  1. Combine dry ingredients and cut in chortening until like cornmeal.
  2. Add milk and mix just until holds together.
  3. Turn out on lightly floured surface; knead 1 minute.
  4. Cover & let rest for 1 hour.
  5. Roll into 12 x 15 rectangle.
  6. Cut into 3” squares.
  7. Heat oil to 370º.
  8. Drop a few pieces of dough at a time into the oil, turning once quickly so they will puff evenly.
  9. Turn back over & brown both sides.
  10. Drain on paper toweling.
  11. Serve hot with honey & cinnamon sugar.
  12. Can cover again after cutting into squares to have ready to cook at the end of a meal.
